Abbygale's 6 Month Photo Shoot

Abby and I decided to try our luck at some pictures around her half-year birthday.  I thought they turned out really good and Abbygale looked just precious.  She loves looking at herself all dressed up.  When she wears a tutu, she rubs it and plays with her skirt.  Her pearls she just loved.  She was smiling and smiling that is until I pulled the camera out.  She is such a girly-girl and that is a fact.  I personally just LOVE it!
She is the prettiest Little Lady Mommy and Daddy have ever seen!

Colton's 2nd Birthday Party

Colton's birthday party was on Sunday, February 26th, 2012 at Zilker Park.  Before going to Zilker, Daddy, Mommy, and Abbygale went shopping.  We went to Target and Toys R Us.  Daddy and Abby had fun shopping for toys and got Abby a new ball and little Pooh.  We got to the park early and checked out Barton Springs Pool and had lunch at the park.  We just roamed around looking at everything the park had to offer.  Then it was party time!  The highlights were Abby playing on the swing and riding the train.  Abbygale had lots of fun even though it was a little cold and windy.

Colton had a cool train birthday cake, opened lots of presents, and squirted us with a water gun.  He was dressed as a train conductor (as were his Mommy and Daddy) and I think Colton had a fun day celebrating his birthday!  Abby loved watching Colton ride on his new John Deere tractor that pulled a little trailer.  She starred and starred at him driving around.  I think she wanted to join in on the fun!

Loving the Swing!

Mommy's Birthday

Mommy celebrated her birthday on February 25th, and it was the first year that we got to celebrate as 'our family.'  We spent the day together, which made it a great day!  We went to Round Rock and hung out with Amy, Coby, Laverne, and Harold.  We did some shopping at Garden Ridge, Target, Hobby Lobby, and Party City.  Then we just went back to Amy's house and barbqued fajitas, drank a few margaritas, and had some birthday cake.  It turned into a special day that Mommy enjoyed dearly!

Abby wore her onesie with a big bow on it since Abby is the best present Mommy could ever ask for!  Happy 29 years Mommy!

Abby is ½ of a Year!

Abby is officially half a year old! She has become quite the Little Lady and hitting milestones left and right. We have had so much fun in six months with our little girl. Abby’s a character for sure. She is a joker, a little diva, super dramatic at times, and overall such a happy baby. She’s perfect in our book, that’s for sure. I really couldn’t have asked for a better or different baby. Abbygale is everything that I have always dreamed about. She’s a little me with a good mixture of her Daddy, which creates just pure sweetness and awesomeness.
Abby has the most amazing big, dark blue eyes that look deep into you. Her eyes are one of my many favorite things about Abbygale. They are just magical! Her soft, little hands love to love on you so they are constantly rubbing my arm. I love how affectionate she is. She loves to rub her Daddy’s hair and face too. She is just so very sweet. But don’t let her fool you – she has a little mean streak too! I laugh at her when you know she is trying to be a mean girl. Her meanness is still adorable to me!

What is Abby up to at 6 months old?

• Abby talks and talks and talks. She is a talker for sure (just like her Daddy).
• Abby has started making growling sounds. It’s precious!
• Abby is teething and we can feel a tooth coming in but still cannot see any teeth yet.
• Abby can sit up all by herself. She still plays on her back and tummy too but she also sits up and plays now.
• Abby can roll. She is a good roller but only does so when she wants to do so. She does everything her way, when she is ready!
• When Abby is on her tummy, she has started to pull her legs into a crawling position but is really just at the beginning stages of learning the first step to crawling.
• Abby still prefers to be held over her exercauser or jumpers or anything really. She likes both toys for a little while but doesn’t want to be left alone, that’s for sure (and I don’t blame her)!
• Abby loves to play and really likes just about any toy. She has become very active, which is so neat to watch. Her favorite toys at the moment are probably her cow that plays music, her stuffed bear and doll that hangs from her car seat, her red ball that rattles, the Baby Einstein elephant, and her soft book that has tags and a mirror on it. She also loves her dog she plays with at the changing mat!
• Abby is wearing Size 3 diapers and is in 6-9 month clothing. She is in a Size 2 shoe.
• Abby still wears bows without pulling them out. I don’t send her in bows during the day while she is playing when I’m working but try and put bows on her on the weekends. She only messes with them if she is really tired and fussy.
• Abby is a little diva. When she is tired she puts her hand over her eyes like she has had such a long day. Its darling- I laugh every time!
• When Abby yawns she lets out a high pitch squeal. Daddy and I love to hear it!
• Abby has hyper fits now and will squeal as loud as she can in delight.
• Abby loves to watch herself in the mirror. When she is dressed up (with a bow, of course) and you show her herself in the mirror she grins the largest grin. She loves to hear how pretty she is. I think Abby may be a little conceded but that is what Mommy wants. Then it will be hard for other people to break her self-confidence.
• Abby loves to eat. She has had rice cereal, real avocados, peas, pears, cinnamon apple oatmeal, sweet potatoes, real bananas, real pudding, carrots, applesauce, mash potatoes, croutons (as a teething tool), a tad bit of queso, yogurt, Hawaiian delight, raspberry banana oatmeal, real mashed up green beans, etc. This is just some of the foods she has had that I can name. She really likes real food that she can eat. Her favorite baby foods seem to be carrots, sweet potatoes, and peas (she likes the vegetables over fruits at the moment and I’m not complaining). Everything Mommy wouldn’t pick! She has snacked on Baby Mum Mum’s and yogurt. She tries almost anything and we let her try anything that she can eat without any teeth. She’s an eater! However, she doesn’t like the baby meats. We tried stage 1 turkey and she thought that was the grosses thing ever! She refused to eat ANYTHING after that! Our baby is a vegetarian for awhile.
• Abby is drinking 6 ounce bottles throughout the day, every 3-5 hours, just depending on when she is hungry.
• Abby sleeping habits are not what I was hoping they would be at 6 months. Do I even need to say she is not sleeping through the night yet? She goes to bed around 8:30-9:00 pm and will sleep to around midnight. She then wakes up and I give her a pacifier and she sleeps on a good night until 3 am but on a bad night she could be waking up every 45 minutes after that. I give her a pacifier and for the most part she goes back to sleep. I have started giving her a few ounces once when she wakes up to see if that helps her sleep longer. Some nights it seems to help and other nights not so much. On a good night, Abbygale
• We are so grateful that Abby gets to play with Melissa while we are working. This has been GREAT for us (more than words can say) and Abby LOVES playing with her Aunt Melissa. She tells me about all the fun she has each and every day :) We are so thankful to have this opportunity. Melissa is the GREATEST!
• Abby really looks for her Mommy and stares at her. Sometimes she won’t take her eyes off of me. Daddy can have her and she is starring at her Mommy. I LOVE it.
• Abby loves her Daddy too! When Daddy is talking Abby looks for him and follows his voice. She says, “Come talk to me Daddy.” When Daddy comes over to talk to Abby she gets a HUGE grin! I love seeing that! After Daddy and Abby have been playing and Mommy takes Abby, Abby looks for her Daddy. Every time she sees Daddy she grins from ear to ear!
• Abby’s nails grow so fast! My bet still is that they are going to be long, strong, and beautiful!
• Abby grabs for things now. She can grab for her paci and then put it in her mouth (even though she might chew on the plastic end).
• Abby is really changing. Every day I notice small changes such as her face changing and just growing up little by little.
• Abby’s eyes are still bluish-green and BEAUTIFUL!
• Abby loves her tree on the wall in her room. When she is in her room she just stares at all the walls with decorations and really seems to like her cheerful room.
• Abbygale is such a HAPPY baby. She loves to smile and is so laid back. Just a happy girl!
• Abby is ticklish and Mommy and Daddy love to tickle her. She is ticklish on her ribs and neck. If you kiss on her she just starts to laugh.
• Abby still loves bath time. She just kicks her feet non-stop and likes to eat on the washcloth. She’s a character!
• Abby and Daddy wrestle in the evenings! They have their own little wrestling match and just have so much fun with each other. I love looking at both of them with smiles on their faces!
• Abby sleeps with her stuffed animal sheep. She likes to touch you when she is sleeping so in her crib she cuddles with her sheep. I love it!
• Abbygale is a Sesame Street lover! She likes Sesame Street and also Baby TV (9400 on Dish Network). She is still a TV junkie if you don’t watch her. When Mommy is watching “The Voice” and the music starts, her legs are just a moving to the music. She LOVES music!
• Abby has started to learn to wave 'bye-bye.'  It's not perfect by any means but she tries from time to time.

Abby is really becoming a sweetheart. She is loving and just so very cute. Abby- Mommy and Daddy love you SO, SO much! You are the love of our lives. You are such a little toot and have really started to show your perfect personality. I don’t think you can do any wrong in our book. You have us wrapped around your little finger, that’s certain. These have been the best six months of our lives and I can’t wait for many, many more years as a family. We are going to create so many memories and have so much fun! We love you to the ‘moon and back and more.’ Actually, Daddy says we love you “to mars and back and more.’ You get the point – we love you as much as you can love anything at all.

Abby's 6 Month Check-Up With Dr. Hughes

Abbygale had her six month doctor's appointment on Thursday, February 23, 2012.  Poor baby had to get shots (3 shots and 1 oral) on her exact half year birthday.  Mommy and Daddy's heart broke.  Daddy is not a fan of the nurses that poke her and give her shots.  He hates them because they make our little girl cry.  It's funny to see how protective Daddy is of his little princess.
Abby weighs 17 pounds, which is in the 75th percentile.  Abby is approximately 26 inches long, which is in the 60th percentile and her head circumference is 44 1/4 cm, which is in the 90th percentile.  Abby has lots of smart brains in her head!!
Overall, Abby did good at the doctor's office and we don't have to go back for another three months.  Well we have to go back in one month to get her flu booster but not see Dr. Hughes again until she is 9 months old.

Abby ran fever and didn't feel good after her shots, like all the prior times.  She got sick and puked all over herself and cries because she feels so bad.  She had fever in the upper 99 range.  Her sickness after shots usually last about 24 hours or so.

Abby--We are very proud of you.  You are a strong little girl!  You didn't cry at all after the first shot but the second shot got to you.  You try and smile and be happy even though you feel just terrible!

Dr. Hughes said you were doing very good.  He can tell you are not around other babies/kids a lot because you haven't been sick (except from the shots).  He says that is just wonderful.  You talked and talked to him and tried to pull on his equipment and measuring tape.  You might want to be a doctor when you grow up, who knows!

It's time to start finger foods!  Yippie!  You can start feeding yourself bananas, peeled apples or pears, raisins snipped in half, oranges, peaches, pears, pineapple or avocado pieces, cooked carrot sticks, sweet potatoes or squash, broccoli clusters, graham crackers, whole green beans, or whole wheat bread in strips.  Just to name a few.  You get to start learning how to feed yourself; that is so exciting.  Currently, you feed yourself the Baby MumMum's but everything else is fed to you.  That's about to change....  You are getting so big!!
