Abby's 6 Weeks Old

Abby is six weeks old already (6 weeks on October 4, 2011)!  That is so hard for me to believe because the time has just flown!  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE being at home with Abbygale.  We are both very attached to each other.  At six weeks old, Abby talks (or sings) in her sleep.  She has such a beautiful little voice it doesn’t bother us at all!  Abby still doesn’t like sleeping; she fights falling asleep because she is so afraid I am going to put her down or she might miss something.  Abby doesn’t like to be put down that is for sure.  She cries until someone holds her most of the time (and she really likes her Momma holding her)!

Abby has found her hair!  She pulls her hair now trying to figure out what that is on the top of her head.  It is so very cute!  She has become so alert these days it is crazy.  At times she is still in la-la land but at other times she is so aware, looking around and really studying her surroundings and people.
Abby smiles now but not on que.  She will smile and laugh in her sleep but she also smiles when wide awake too.  Sometimes it is when someone is talking to her and other times it is just when she is starring at you.
Abby also has a temper.  She gets mad and screams in a really high pitch cry.  Sometimes she is faking it until Mommy comes and gets her.  Other times she really has tears, which just breaks my heart!  She knows what she wants and expects it immediately.  Our little princess is in charge!!
Abby’s eyes still appear blue or aqua colored.  They are so big and beautiful!  Abby gets really round up at night right before bed time.  She becomes extremely hyper and kicks, punches, and moans non-stop.  She burns lots of calories doing her workout right before bed time!  Abby also pinches you when she gets hyper like this.  She’ll grab your hand and just drive those little fingers in your skin.  She really doesn’t want to go to bed!
Abby still loves her milk!  She drinks about 6 ounces first thing in the morning and then will drink 4 ounce bottles throughout the day.  Late in the evening she will drink about 6 ounces before bed.  However, she eats just whenever she is hungry.  We aren’t on any 3 hour schedule or anything.  She is getting better though!  Abby goes to bed around 9:30 or 10:00 pm and will sleep about 5-6 hours.  She will then drink a 3 ounce bottle and go back to bed for about a 1 ½ hours and then I’ll put her in bed with me and she sleeps until 8:00 or 8:30 am (so another 2 to 2 ½ hours).  I am hoping to someone try and get her to bed earlier at night and wake up a little earlier since we are morning people and not night owls.  However, I am not sure how to change this just yet.  Abby still sleeps in her bassinet beside our bed.  Around 8 weeks I am planning to move her to her crib in her own room.
Abby is in size 1 diapers now and probably weighs around 11 pounds!
I read to Abby every day (that is our goal at least).  We also do tummy time and different activities (her bouncer, swing, etc.).  Tummy time has really helped her to lift her head up.  She is one strong little girl!  She has really started to like her swing.  In the mornings she will sit in it for about 30 minutes to 1 hour (she just started this) and watches the television!  It is so cute!!
Abby is growing so very fast which is a little sad for Mommy.  We love her to pieces (I tell her I love her to the moon and back and more each day).  She has been so much fun and I really can’t imagine life without her now.  She is our little angel and such a blessing!

Abby's 1 Month Birthday!

Abby is one month old!  Wow…just wow!  The first month has gone by so fast it is just unbelievable.  I am so very attached to Abby and just can’t imagine my life without her.  She is my little buddy and we are glued together and don’t plan on un-gluing ourselves for a while!

Abby has grown so much in one month it is just crazy!  She still loves to eat every chance you give her.  She has spit up a bunch on her momma a few times already too from eating too much!  Both Abby and I have been covered in milk on numerous occasions.
Abby makes numerous expressions.  She is also very alert these days and moans and groans and coos constantly throughout the day.  She kicks her feet and punches her little arms when you lie her down.  That is the very beginning of her fit – give her a few more minutes and she will be screaming at the top of her lungs.  She has very, very healthy lungs!  Abby loves to be held and cuddled with.  She says this laying in her bassinet business, on her boppy pillow, or in the bed is for the birds.  She prefers to be in the arms of her mommy!
Abby smiles some already and she laughs in her sleep too.  She is so precious and I could just stare at her all day long.  She concentrates on who is holding her these days and really stares at you.  She is trying to figure out who everyone is.  She loves to watch the ceiling fan turn and thinks that is the neatest invention yet!
Abby is wearing 0-3 month clothing for the most part.  The newborn pants still fit her but the onesies and other clothing in the newborn size is too small.  She is still wearing newborn diapers but once we go through what she already has we will be upgrading to a size 1 diaper.  We’ve already tried a size 1 diaper and they fit her so she is ready to go up one size.
Abby drinks lots of milk!  Throughout the day she is drinking 3 ounces every couple of hours.  However, in the evenings she drinks 4 ounces (probably two bottles in the evenings before bed).  She will go to bed around 8:30 pm – 10:00 pm and sleep until 1:00 am to 2:00 am (about 4 hours).  At night she drinks only about 2 ounces each feeding and falls asleep.  After she wakes up between 1 am and 2 am she doesn’t do as good.  She will wake up about 3 am, 5 to 5:30 am, 7:00 am, and then 8:30 am (if we go back to sleep after waking up around 7 am).  Hopefully, she will start sleeping a little longer the second half of the night soon!
Abbygale’s eyes are starting to get some color to them.  They are looking bluish-greenish (kind of an aqua color).  They are beautiful!  She is also very long so I am thinking she isn’t going to be a shorty like her momma, which is great!
We have started getting out of the house more and more and we are actually feeling a sense of normalcy when trying to get out.  It is all coming together and we are getting use to how to operate with a little baby.  Life is great and Abby is P-E-R-F-E-C-T!!  I tell her each night I love her to the moon and back and really I love her so much more than that too!  She is my little baby and I’m so lucky to be her momma!

I LOVE this picture with her little feet hanging out!!
