A daughter is the happy memories of the past, the joyful memories of the present, and the hope and promise of the future.

Abby's First Birthday

Abby turned ONE!  She is now a BIG GIRL!  Her birthday fell on a Thursday (8/23/2012) so Daddy and Mommy took off work and celebrated.  Daddy, Mommy, and Abby made a day in Austin.  We went to the Austin Children's Museum where Abby played with colored rice, pretended to milk a cow, slid down the slide, played with trains and magnet letters and a bunch of toys that made loud noises.  Then we went to Mighty Fine Burgers since Abby loves french fries and had lunch.  Our next stop was to the pet store to check out the fish, hamsters, and birds.  Abby enjoyed that!  We then went toy shopping at Target GreatLand.  Our very last stop was the splash pad by Daddy's work.  Daddy and Abby played in the water and then we called it a day and came home and played, played, played!  Abby seemed to have a great first birthday.  I know Daddy and Mommy enjoyed hanging out with Miss Abbygale for the day!

The big news for the day was....Abby got to face forward in her carseat!  Woohoo - she can now see trucks, Tec (tractors), and all sorts of things out the window.

Chicken "Bawk" "Bawk"

One day I told Abby she was being a little chicken.  Her response was "bawk, bawk."  I laughed so hard.  Later on we were eating bar-b-que chicken and I told Abby "Eat your chicken."  She looked at me and said once again "bawk, bawk."  I about died it was so adorable.  I then told her "okay- I get it; you don't have to eat the poor chicken."

Now when you say chicken, she smiles so big and says "bawk, bawk."  It's the joke around our house right now.  Abbygale is just so darn CUTE!

Abby's First BooBoo's

Abbygale got her very first boo boo less than one week before her very first birthday.  She has become quite the dare devil and is becoming more and more independent so I knew we were about to hit the 'ouchy' phase.  She is standing and trying to walk so of course she is going to hit her head.  She hit her forehead on the corner of the table so in all of her pictures you will see her 'ouchy.'  Poor baby!

Abby's Last Day At Melissa's

Abby's last day at Melissa's was on Wednesday, August 22, 2012.  Abby has been at Melissa's since the beginning of 2012 so for 8 months enjoyed playing with Melissa, Danny, and Drew.  Abby is so happy when she sees her Aunt Melissa and I know she is going to miss her terribly.  I am sad that Abby won't get to continue to play with her Aunt Melissa numerous times a week.  She LOVES it!  Melissa and Abby have such a strong bond.  Melissa has been so good to Abby.  They play outside, play inside with a bunch of toys, go on field trips, etc.  Abbygale has learned so much from Melissa as well because she works with her on animals, sounds, body parts, numbers, and colors.  It has been Melissa's School, which I love.  So August 22, 2012 is a sad day for me because I know Abby is going to miss Melissa.  It breaks my heart.  However, I am so thankful that Melissa watched Abby for as long as she did.  I am thankful beyond any words can express.  I am happy for Melissa because she can now be free and do the things she loves to do: travel, entertain more, and be spontaneous.  I know Abby will still see Melissa and I have no doubt she will never forget how much fun her Aunt Melissa is!

Abby has change ahead of her and I just pray she does okay.  Mommy is not very good with change (nor is Daddy for that matter) so I hope Abby does better than Mommy does with change in general.  I am going to strive to keep her schedule as close to what it was as much as possible.  Abby's next chapter starts now.  It's an exciting one too!  Abby will be going to her Grandma's house.  Abby loves her Grandma.  When she sees Grandma, she smiles so big.  Grandma comes over to the house and plays with Abby, which makes Abby oh so happy!  Grandma and Abbygale are going to have fun together playing in the country I know.  Abby is going to transition to the change and continue to be such a happy little camper!

Cheers to the wonderful 8 months Abby has had with Aunt Melissa.  We will never forget it.  You helped me transition back into the workforce without me having to worry about Abby AT ALL.  It has been wonderful and Abby has had such the best time!  Thank you for everything you have done and everything you have taught my daughter.  We owe you so much!

Cheers to Abby's next phase with Grandma.  Get ready Grandma because Abby is ready to have some fun!

Here are pictures from Abby's last day with Aunt Melissa:

Abby 0 - 12 Months

For part of Abby's birthday party decorations I used a picture from each month of Abby's life: zero to twelve months.  I love seeing how much she has changed each month.  It's amazing!  Take a look:

A Picture with Abby's Great-Great Grandma, Mamaw's Suitcase

I wanted to take Abbygale's picture in Mamaw's suitcase.  I got one great picture (see the very first one below).  We got a lot of Abby mad screaming and crying.  She was not in the picture taking mood.  She really is never in the picture taking mood these days - she's just at that age.  However, I was happy because we got one good picture.  I love the picture because it connects Abby to her great-great grandmother, Mamaw.  Even mad I think Ms. Abbygale looks 100 percent adorable!  We love our little girl!

I love this one of Abby yelling at me!

Abby is O-N-E!!!

Abby is now ONE! ONE! I just can’t get that through my head: August 23, 2012 Abby is ONE. My little infant went from a baby to pretty much a toddler in 12 short months. She has learned and changed so much in twelve months and has really developed such a cute sense of humor and personality. She’s a doll! We are celebrating her very first birthday with a party on Saturday, August 25th. Writing this twelve-month post is bittersweet. I LOVE the little girl Abbygale has become. She is absolutely perfect. However, I miss the little baby that needed her Mommy for everything. She is definitely becoming more and more independent and loves to play, play, play!

Abby loves to play. Currently, her favorite things are “Tec the Tractor,” “trucks,” “cars,” and “balls.” She also loves her babies but she is becoming quite the tomboy. She loves to be outside these days and is always crawling and pointing to the door.

Abby loves her slide. She, however, crawls up the slide and then slides down on her belly. She thinks that is just too cool! She is a little dare devil, that is for sure! She tries to go head first off the bed, chair, and anything really. She is a climber and a monkey these days! She is very happy hanging upside down!

Abby is so cute because she mimics you. She tries so hard to do what you are doing, which is just adorable. She makes the sounds you are making, tries to repeat what you are saying, and wants to be doing exactly what you are doing. If I am putting batteries in a toy, she must have a screwdriver too and does the same thing. A-dorable!

Abby is still a so-so food eater. Some meals she eats a lot and others not a thing. She loves to throw food on the floor for the dogs though. She would rather do this then eat herself. She has improved on her eating and hopefully she continues to get even better! However, she wants to make sure she has exactly what you are eating or otherwise she is not interested. Her favorite things to eat are tortillas, chips, cheese, and cheetos. Very healthy I know! Abby loves cups and likes to drink out of a normal cup. She has gotten great at it! She really prefers to poor the water all on her so she can play in the water though!

Abby still likes her television but she is not nearly as much of a TV junkie as she was a few months ago. She likes certain shows but would rather be moving around and climbing, playing, messing with the dogs, or anything else she can get her hands on!

Abby LO VES, LOVES, LOVES water. She loves bath time, water hoses, and swimming. If water is involved she is one very happy camper. She wants to hold the water hose and turn the water on and off in the bath tub. She likes to be in control! Hopefully, next summer she loves water as much as she does now so she can be jumping and splashing in the pool like her Cousin Daxton! He is so good in the water!

Abby is overall a GREAT girl. She does have her fussy moments but if she is entertained she is happy. She whines when she is tired and if she gets too tired she cries non-stop in her car seat. Otherwise, she’s fantastic!

Abby is still very shy with strangers or family she doesn’t see at least once a week. She is so shy she starts to cry if someone wants to hold her or even if someone talks to her. I am hoping this changes because it takes Abby days (note plural) to get use to someone. Crazy girl!

Abby is still in 12 month clothing but it is getting pretty tight on her. She will be moving up to 18 month clothes very soon. She is still in a size 3 diaper and size 3 shoe. Abby still has 8 very sharp teeth. She bites from time to time so beware…she’s a little jaws!

Abby has become such the snuggle bunny, which we all love. She snuggles with you and lays on you. She is pretty stubborn with her kisses still but gives them from time to time. Her babies get kisses all the time and she will kiss pictures of her too! However, Mommy and Daddy can ask and ask for kisses and we only get them if we are lucky.

Abby is doing much better with keeping her bows in her hair. She still finds them and pulls them out but not immediately. Mommy can once again put a bow in her hair and she does okay. I just have to continuously put it back in her hair!

Abby’s eyes have turned a pretty green color. They are just so pretty!

If Abby wants to she knows a bunch. Off the top of my head she knows: cow, moo, dog, tractor, truck, eyes, nose, mouth, hair, ears, feet, bunny, hop, chicken (bawc-bawc).

Abby has found her rhythm and has become quite the little dancer. She waves her hands and bounces up and down. She’s got groove! She’s learned this from her Cousin Colton who LOVES to dance!

Abby is really good at giving you things she finds on the floor or wherever. If you ask her, “Can I have that?” she will give it to you. Thank goodness because she has picked up dead bugs before!

Abby has started the opening cabinets and drawers phase. She gets into everything. We have got to get safety clips on stuff very soon because she is into everything, including my cleaning products. She hasn’t figured out how to open the tubaware drawer yet because it is an angled cabinet to open. Pretty soon the kitchen will be covered in tubaware.  That is completely okay though!
Abby likes to play in her room. We don’t have too many toys in her room (they are mostly in our bedroom, the living room, and the play area) but she loves her room. She loves looking at the flowers, butterflies, and all the decorations. We cut the music on and dance, dance, dance! She is one happy little girl roaming in her own room! On Mommy’s to do list: put more toys back into Abbygale’s room.

Abby has been caught numerous times standing on the dishwasher lid. The number one toy these days is a spoon, cup, and the dishwasher. She likes to roll the baskets out and climb up and mess with the top shelf. She hasn’t been hurt yet thank goodness!

Abby is not a fan of changing her diapers anymore. She doesn’t like to sit still on her back. She would rather be standing up looking at that beautiful baby in the mirror. So how do I entertain her while changing her diaper? We sing, “Mommy gunna get your belly. Mommy gunna get your belly.” We rap and dance to this! Yes, we are goofy and funny! It works so I am willing to do anything that keeps her still for two minutes to change a stinky diaper. If you ask Abby if she is stinky and put your hands on your nose, she will do the same thing and laugh. So cute!

Unfortunately, our little girl thinks it is so hilarious and fun to play in…..the bathroom! Yuck, I know. If we do not keep the doors shut she crawls (running style) to the bathroom to play before anyone can catch her. She has a grin ear to ear! She doesn’t understand the bathroom is a yucky, yucky place.  Bathroom door = closed.  Check!

Abby has transitioned to organic whole milk very well now.  She doesn't care if she gets formula or milk.  We have a couple more containers of formula we will continue to use (mostly during the night) and after that she will be on organic whole milk 100 percent of the time.  She has transitioned well into this next phase.  However, bottles on the other hand is a different story.  She still wants a bottle as opposed to a sippy cup.  Mommy really has to work hard at this the next couple of weeks to try and get her off bottles some and using sippy cups for milk more.  She likes cups for her water but when it is bottle time she wants a bottle not a cup.  This is on Mommy's to-do list so hopefully she will be using sippy cups during the day and only bottles at night.  Wish me luck!

Abby sleeping pattern is not good.  She is still up like a newborn throughout the night.  She goes through 2-3 bottles each night still.  She wakes up screaming "ba-ba, ba-ba."  Once you give her a bottle she goes back to sleep.  Abby goes to bed around 8:30-9:30 pm each night and sleeps until about 1:00 am in her crib.  Let me back track a second: she falls to sleep with us in bed and then gets moved to her crib until she wakes up around 1.  She takes a bottle and then goes back to bed until around 3:00-3:30.  Another bottle then.  Then she sleeps until 5:00-6:00, depending on if we have to work the next day or not and wants another bottle.  If we are home and it is quite she will go back to sleep until 7:30-8:30 am.  Each bottle is about 6 ounces but during the day she drinks some 8-10 ounce bottles (especially right before bedtime).

Abby takes 1-2 naps during the day.  One nap is anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours.  The second nap, if she falls asleep, which is only some times, is about 30 minutes.  She usually only takes a second nap if she is in the car.

Abby is about done with pacifiers completely.  She hasn't used a pacifier during the day in a very long time.  However, at night sometimes she uses a pacifier to fall asleep after her bottle and on occasions at night.  She only uses a pacifer rarely and for the most part doesn't like them.  I would think in the next couple of weeks all pacifiers are gone from in our household.

Abby you are a big girl now. You are ONE! Shout it to the sky: ONE! You are such a smart little lady and Mommy and Daddy’s best friend. You are so entertaining, so very sweet, and just 110 percent perfect! I can’t imagine life getting any better; however, I know each day it gets even better because of you. You are Mommy’s and Daddy’s life. We love you more than any words can say. We love you to the moon and back and MUCH, MUCH more! Congrats on turning one Little Momma and cheers to many, many more fun and love-filled years! XOXO!
